You should have a center thrust crank being MY'97 - center thrust locates on Number 3 main journal and rear thrust locates on Number 5 main journal.

If you have a 97my then you can be sure it's a centre thrust as Mick has stated.

Rear thrust cranks were not fitted until the introduction of the phase two engine in 1998.

Centre thrust as standard on that year of car.

Unless it has a later phase 2 block or the block has already been machined to accept a rear thrust. To confirm you would ideally have to strip the bottom end.

Sorry to confuse matters.

ok guys seem to be having some luck so far, crank is centre thrust, also bearings and so on seem to be cheaper than the rear thrust 1s?
good news with the crank,it will be fine with a polish and then a rebalance. cant wait now.
