Default differences between version 4 sti and 5/6?

ok as some of you may know ive sold my car but i have seen a few version4's folr sale with the upgraded dash inside .. so was just wondering what the differences are as i have many 5/6 classic parts which would be handy if the would fit on the version 4, i understand the spoiler and seats are slightyl different but what about the front end? as i havbe scoops and lights and indicators etc..?

do they have the later bonnet and grill and bumper etc.?

cheers

v.4 bonnet same as v.5/6

v.4 lights (frosted) same angled inner-edge pattern as v.5/6 (crystal)

v.4 grille flatter than the more aggressive, protruding v.5/6 (v.4 also has 'diamond' plastic 'mesh'; v.5/6 has 'honeycomb' hexagon plastic 'mesh') - but still interchangeable.

v.4 bumper as per early cars - v.5/6 different bumper's indicators and foglight covers won't fit it.

After the 22B and P1, the v.5 STi Type R is best looking IMHO . Get one in Feather White! (or a Sonic Blue V-limited)

You're right, it's effectively a v.5 Type R but, dare I say it, not as good? (puts flame-suit on)

It's a cult thing - it was a unique, good looking UK-supplied car back in the day (not every one would have known about/could be bothered to import a JDM STi or afford JDM STi insurance, etc.)... So an easy route to get your **** in the UK's, effectively, 'STi Type R', and the kudos that would have gone with it, etc. The cult's still very strong, hence the firm prices as you elude to...

You're right again - the canny Japs make sure they produce the best cars (features, hardware, power levels, etc.) for their home market ... This is why we all love 'em so much.

The biggest contempoary illustration of this practice is the latest UKDM Civic, compared to their one... They've really pushed the boat out on this one as it's a whole ruddy different, massively superior car!!! I love that JDM Civic in white!, although I'm sure I'd tire of the V-TEC screamer though. But on the other hand, would love the inevitable reliability!

lol yeah that civic is lovely!
Just depends what you are after, some people just love naturally aspirated!

My mates an example, thousands spent on his civic, gives STi's a gd run in, if not better, bt just not worth it, i mean, bad conditions n he'll spin al the way past 4th gear , not my thing but hey its fun, specially with NOS.

Yeah my mate had a DC2 Integra and I loved it's rawness, but ultimately not fast enough... even though the manic V-TEC and hyper LSD-equipped FWD made it feel nuts.

It's biggest foible for me though, was the relative lack of grip (for it's performance/handling prowess) and it's willingness for the back-end to go light and oversteer under braking into tight turns. Fun, but can be a scary if you're not expecting it.

yeah i know exactly what you mean, with a lot of my friends previously owning DC2s and 5s aswell as civics.

they even worse when turbocharging.. i mean they good in straight line and for drag but an everyday car lol u'll need life insurance, torque steer is just silly!

i pray everytime i step foot in my mates civic turbo lol
