Default orange/yellow light on dash,NOT CEL, 2003 sti

first off folks, its definitely not the cel light.

but recently, and only a couple of times so far, an orange or yellow light has flickered on my dash when hard accelerating in second. its on the same line as the airbag display when you turn the key, sort of just above the steering wheel. not got a pic as it just flickers.

the only thing i can think of is the intercooler spray being low, but surely it would just be on rather than flicker so fast i cant see what it looks like. im pretty sure its orange..or yellow lol.

please help as i'm paranoid now

I would suggest you rule out the IC spray light first, have you checked the water level?

Doesn't the I/C Spray light flicker on/off when it's actually spraying?

I thought it only stayed on when the water needed topping up?

It will flicker when you accelerate as the level is moving in the bottle. Mine does it... just top the tank in the boot up

I had the same and it turned out to be the I/C light, I was paranoid for a while too.
Topped it up to 3/4 (to avoid the water freezing, tank breaking) and its never happened again.

If you have the 12 ltr one attached to the back of the seat then its an aftermarket fitment not a standard item (to my knowledge anyway)

If it looks like this then its not the standard location for it

if its a smaller one fitted behind one of the rear lights or similar it might be something that was standard on UK cars although i have never seen it

UK STi's have the tank fitted between the drivers side rear light and wheel arch.

Can't find a pic anywhere.

thanks for the replies folks, it was quite low, so i pressed it lots of times and got it lower, and under acceleration it comes on long enough to read it now so i topped it up when i got in from work.

and its in the boot lol
