Default Help with fueling system

Hi guys wonder if anyone can help me?

Driving home after a night shift, warmed the car as usual, drive a mile or so and engine cut out. Did start again drive about 100 yards and then cut out and would not tick over.

Got a toe home and had a look at a few things, come to conclusion that there's no fuel getting into engine.

Checked by fuel filter, removed pipe on the "out" flow of filter and turned ignition on no fuel.

Checked fuel pump no voltage on connector (R58) so check fuel relay on battery and does operate.

Does anyone have any ideas what to check/look at next. Don't want to have to buy a fuel pump and find that's not the problem and phoned the Jap Performance Import place and was quoted "£30 for a relay and £45 for a fuel pump" is that a fair price for a relay????

Thanks for reading and any thoughts would be much appreciated

Cheers Rich

It's a Turbo 2000 uk spec 1999

How much for an uprated pump? Wife won't be to happy as just spent £200 or so on EBC rear discs and pads. LOL

well first plan would be to wire the pump straight to a battery and see if it pumps.....cost £FREE

if the pump works and you've said you tested the realy and it works no point buying another one????

check the big fuses under the bonnet, green 30amp fuse. one is for fuel pump and ignition coils, try that

Right Checked fuel pump wired direct to battery - works fine.
Changed fuel pump relay and main relay (brown one just above fuel relay).
But battery went flat.......

Have checked all fuses by drivers side all ok not checked the engine bay ones yet.

Anyone else have any ideas..........?

if you have voltage out of the relay and none at the pump then that wire must have a break in it. trace for the break or run a new wire from relay to pump. If the relay switches the earth then and the pump should be live all the time then the wire from fuse box to pump is broken. Can remeber which way round these are wired.

Also worth checking the fuses with a metre rather than just visually. I have a 50amp here which looks to be ok to the eye but when checked with a metre has no continuity. When you look really close has a hairline crack in it.
