Default VF35 to VF22 or td05?

Recently fitted a few bits to my MY00 wagon (VF35, walbro, power FC, etc) and had it remapped, running around 1.3bar in 3rd..

Now I realise most people will think I'm a bit mad but the power delivery from the VF35 seems very smooth and almost N/A power to me and got me wanting something a bit more raw. I've driven td05 equipped cars and they seem to have a bit more of a whack of power at full boost at 1.3bar. It does seem better higher up the revs though but I'm more for the placebo hit of mid range grunt rather than the licence loosing top end. Got me thinking about a td05 or a VF22 (as everyone moans about them being too big (which has got to equal a good hit)

The car feels a little more refined than I hoped, I was expecting a bit more aggression but it just feels as smooth as before but faster. I think one of the things is that it'll peak 1.3bar in 3rd and hold late 1.2's but in 2nd it's a 1.2bar peak and 1st just over 1bar. I'm using a 3port apexi solenoid and the power fc for boost control and obviously it's setup so it maxes in the later gears and therefore runs less in 2nd. Maybe fitting an AVCR and running 1.3bar in 2nd will pep things up.

FMIC ?

My 2002 STI was fitted with a quality one and it seemed quite ferocious on track, oversteer was easily achieved as the revs rose towards the red line....

Also allowed around 1.6 bar of boost in the cold weather.

Was also something I was thinking about.. I know the stock V6 intercooler is supposed to be ok but can't help thinking that a front mount would make it feel stronger. It does start to feel slightly blunted after a while, and I can't help thinking the intercooler will be struggling. I don't mind the extra lag from fron mount either.

The way I read it before I started all this was there'd be no noticeable benefit from front mount over my intercooler at this level. It'd be nice to think with a front mount I could run 1.4bar (in 2nd too) and a bit more ign advance?

I was running 1.4bar on an STI8 top mount with a VF28 on a classic.

If you fancy going down the TD route, get an 18g. They do give you the hit in the back youre looking for.

Mine used to wilt in warm weather in fast road use (std. spec.), the FMIC WILL cool the in-coming air to a greater extent, allowing more boost/ignition depends on the mapper really.

imho
