Best dumpvalve money can buy?
I've been looking at the HKS SSQV BOV but before I buy it I just want to know what else is out there. I'm after the loudest and sexiest sound
Anyone got any suggestions??
P.S. if you got any for sale and you want rid... send me a PM!

I'm in the same boat as you, I actually miss my SSQV quite a lot! Maybe I could bodge one to my Octavia vRS (no, I'm not really going to, before I get flamed to death )

HKS SSQV is known in these circles as the best sounding, most reliable DV around, seems to be the most popular for a good reason.
As others have said the noise of no DV and a good induction kit is sweet, the 'fluttering' noise is excellent, however, in standard form this set up will cause significant issues, therefore, with regards to a DV, go for the SSQV and you won't go far wrong.

Save yourself some money, get your mate in the passenger seat to turn his burberry cap round backwards and stick his head out of the window and go "PSSSHHHH" every time you change gear.

Does having no DV but an induction kit give you the cool rally "chicka chicka chicka" noise you know what I mean!
I had planned on getting a forge DV because you can change the release spring. I thought that with a slightly too hard spring it would only open on full boost to limit turbo strain.
I want chicka chicka chicka noises and I want pop pop bang bang noises ala' pretend ALS. All I need is some dosh

"Wait a minute... because I like the sound off a decent dumpvalve I'm a chav?"
Yup
The mere fact your buying a dump valve for the noise says it all really.
But that is just my opinion, plus the comment about your friend with the cap is whats know colloquially as humour rather than to be taken totally seriously.

So is this the same reasoning for most of us buying a different exhaust? Yes i know some buy new exhausts(full systems) for power reasons, but how many buy for the noise? Come on be honest. How many think loud exhausts are chav? And yes i change the exhaust on mine. And as for banter, no problem, but its the same old stuff all the time. All the guy asked for was advice.

Whats the point of buying a performance car and then adding stuff to it that will make it slower? If you want a noisy slow car buy a Nova and stick one of those catering bean can jobs on the back!
Just banging a dump valve on a performance car without looking at any of the other factors involved (gas flow, mapping etc) and at best you get some lumpy performance, at worst with the potential for over fuelling you bbq your catalytic converters and have a big bill come MOT time.
Maybe its that I am old and thought the fast and the furious was a pile of steaming baboon toss but the only reason we ever had for doing to stuff to engines and exhausts was to go faster, from putting araldite in the dish of mini pistons to increase the compression (very stupid) through the cherry bomb exhaust etc etc.
Dump valves are really just attention seeking items, why not have a tannoy rigged up to the gearbox thats shouts "oi oi gear change!" every time you change gear! Now that would be different, plus the reverse cap passenger can take a break to pick the flies out of his eyes from hanging out the window going "PSSSSH" !
The recommended condiment with the above paragraph is salt, pinch of!

Poor bloke only asked for some advice !!! He want's to spend his money wisely so he asked people who may have already gone down this path. By all means give him the technical reasons why he shouldn't bother, but don't give him a hard time !!! Modding cars is all about personal choice !!! When I was 17 I was driving around in a 1980 Talbot Sunbeam Ti and to this day I still think it was cool !!!
