For my 1997 sport, which one is it??
afaik, the Phase2 was introduced in 1999,
i am only confused as i got no clue if the engine design or anything changed in 1997

A 1997 car is either a MY97 (Sep 96 - Aug 97) v.3. or, possibly, a MY98 (Sep 97 - Aug 98) v.4 (if it has the facelifted interior i.e. with the fuel/temp gauges next to each other, then v.4).

Whatever, it's defo the first listing you need.


FTR, the 3 engine changes (i.e. inlet manifold, coilpacks, air intake, sensors, etc...)

MY93-96 (Nov 92 - Aug 96)... v.1/2... 'Phase 1'

MY97/98 (Sep 96 - Aug 98)... v.3/4... 'Phase 1.5'

MY99/00 (Sep 98 - Aug 00)... v.5/6... 'Phase 2'

 

I see that your car is R reg which is 1st Aug 1997 - 31st Jul 1998... So the odds are - by 11:1 or 92% lol - that yours is a MY98 v.4

 

Havent got the gauges like that... its fuel on left, speed, rev, then temp on right....

I think its MY97 as on the document it says something like doc ref ##something ##and 23/05/97 everywhere

but date of 1st reg is 21/08/97

1st one was pre facelift, then facelift - both 115bhp, then the next facelift was the one with 125bhp + crystal headlight etc..

 

Yep. MY97 it is.

It came out the factor for sale on 23/05/97 and was sold - therefore registered - 3 months later on 21/08/97.

Your car only just made it on to an R plate - if it was reg'd 21 days earlier, it'd be one of the very last P platers, lol.
