Default KEY PROBLEM

I have a 04 blob eye wrx which i have had for about a month, i only go the 1 key with it, i have been to subaru dealers about a new key which will cost me about £150, the dealer asked me if the car locks have ever been changed as they make the key from the cars chasis no#. that is the problem i got the car from a trader who had it only for a few weeks, so please any suggestions as how can i find out if the car locks have ever been changed.

Im guessing you havent lost the one and only key you have but instead want a spare?

If so, i would say if the key opens all the doors, starts the engine and opens the boot then the likelihood is no locks have been changed.

I got my new car last thursday and only got given 1 key for it, I went straight down to a key place in the local town and had one cut there and then for £5.25. Works a treat!!
Mine is a classic though and i think the newage have a transponder in the key or something... maybe?!
