Cold Feed To Induction

Cold Feed To Induction
Iv got a 95 WRX wgon and im replacing the crappy induction kit with a powertec one. Was thinking about taking out the resonator from inside the wing and replacing it with a cold air feed fed from the fron of the bumper through the wing and directly infront of the induction kit to help with cold air. Any bodys thoughts and advise on this, worth doing? problems? disadvantages/advantages?
Thanks

tbh i don't really think the Powertec one is much cop (K+N,APexi are better makes imo).
I've removed the snorkel from the inner wing and put a cold feed there ,had to cut a hole in the plastic just to the right of the foglight (when looking at the car).
The IK will need to be sheilded from the engine hence why most people say use the OE airbox and good panel filter.

brill! will go ahead and take snorkel etc out tonight and replace with 65mm piping, then i can take my time in making a cold shield from alloy in my spare time. Thanks

Harvey, would that still be the case with a induction kit? If so i might just leave it on (havent had chance to take it off yet) If that is the case is it worth me riggin up a second air feed from somewhere IF i can?

On a 95 WRX the OE induction system is probably OK up to perhaps 300 bhp. After that you probably get a good benefit from a cone and it is a shorter inlet tract. The cone system on your car does not interrupt the air flow in the same way that removing the snorkel does.
Depending what power you are going for a cone is probably a good move and is probably the best option once you get past the 300-320 bracket anyhow.
