I might have access to a N reg non turbo 2ltr scooby engine, does any1 know if the internals are the same? do you think i can swap them?

any help much appreciated.

failing a swap does any1 know where i can get the parts i need?

It would probably be best to buy a whole turbo engine mate, you can pick em up for around 500 quid, but make sure you find out why your engine went in the first place, whats up with it, bottom end?

Sorry to hear the tale of woe. Know how it feels, happened to wifes Scoob earlier this year.

Cost of overhaul/rebuild is phenominal. Probably 100% of the value of the car if not more. Am assuming from the tone of your original post that you do not have circa 2 grand to throw at a car possibly only worth £1500 (in the current economic climate).

Samcowrx suggestion is what I did. 2nd hand engine off ebay for £500. Fitted it myself, doddle, and running very nicely thanks (touching wood)
Obviously there are no guarantees or warranties this way but most breakers will sell you an engine for a little more with a 3 month warranty. Probably the best option is find a breaker who will fit it for you and give you a warranty as well (some do).

Good luck mate. Plenty of technical info on here if you do decide to rebuild it yourself, just ask.

Yeah been on the phone to the breakers, "all" i need is a complete bottom end so hopefully will have one on the way within the week. That combined with the new head gaskets and timming belt kit is prob gonna end up stinging me a fair bit but cant afford a genuine rebuild from dealer so guess its time to get the hands dirty.

Are there many different types of bottom ends for these 2ltr turbo versions or are they all standard? Dont want to get the wrong one and find my heads wont fit :S

Afraid it's not quite that simple.

Give API David a bell. He will give you a rundown on what you can and can't do.

Also try Andy at Scoobyteknix, 01253 871188, they have always been well helpful to me.

Have changed an engine on 1 and a gearbox on another Scoob. If you need any info PM me for my number and will talk you thru it.

Good Luck
