Default Looking at replacing the OEM MY03 STi filter with a K&N one. Should I?

As per the title. Recently went and bought the replacement K&N filter for the OEM Subaru one in my STi. But looking on google it appears that the oil off this filter can cause issues. I know I didn't do my homework/research first Anyone using one of these on their Newage Subaru? Don't really want to be fitting this to find I have knackered something up because of it...

Cool Did you notice any improvements in engine performance?

There's a lot of information on the web about air filters. Here's a good site Air Filtration Test
If you're running the standard intake system, there's little to be gained by moving away from OEM IMHO.
There've been other posts on this subject as well.

Performance wise, not really but if you look at it from a cost saving point of view then it's well worth doing..

Just don't over oil when you come to clean it (I do mine every 12k or so)..!

You may notice some increased induction noise (turbo whistle/dump valve whoosh etc) which is quite nice and not over the top.

K&N or Green, which is what I use..

Thanks for the input. Will look at putting mine in sometime soon then... Thought I'd bought something that may cause harm rather than good. In the long run I should be saving on the filter.
