Default Exhaust advice for 04 STI

Hi guys, I have been searching on here for exhaust advice and have a couple of questions.

I will eventually want a full turbo back system, but for the moment will be happy with just a back box. What diameter is the current pipe? Am I right in thinking its 2.75?? Will I have to get the same pipe size back box or is it advisable to have a 3" system? I cant attach a 3" to a lower diameter pipe can I?

I want an exhaust that will grumble on idle and on low boost (and not wake neighbours) but really roars on full throttle. I love the low V8 type sound some Scooby's make. Any reccomendations?

Thanks.

Hayward & Scott back box will be fine, not too loud but will give plenty burble, you can always add the centre section if you need more burble.

worth checking for sale section

angle exit for me

Thanks buddy!

So 2.5" will be fine for me, I doubt I will ever want to go over 350!

He says the exhaust is very loud, might be too loud for my liking

Anyone else know of any more that are near stock for idle on motorway, (maybe a nice low burble) but roar on full throttle??

My car is parked next to a block of apartments and as much as I would love to I dont want to rattle their windows at 7 in the morning

the hayward and scott 4.5 inch tail pipe is loud. if you want something discreet get an prodrive back box. or if you want a full sytem get an prodrive system which includes a sports cat downpipe. it will be capable of up to 350bhp. i have just bought an 3" milltek turbo back and am getting it fitted on the 17th november so you can private messgae me if you wish to hear how i got on and what it sounds like.

Miltek is quiet as a mouse on tickover but sounds awesome on full boost.

Also consider the Group N from TSL Motorsport - good system
