As the new service intervals have now come into play on my WRX and I've hit 5000 miles, thought an oil change would be appropriate.

The oil filter cannot be easily seen. As I don't want to void the warranty I wanted to fit the OE filter. Does anyone know what make it is and, if possible, the part number.

Also, if anyone has done the oil change themselves, how much does one cost from a Subaru dealer/other outlet. Can't order off the internet as I'm hoping to do the bis tomorrow.

After all, it is Valentines and I want to treat my baby

Hello m8 couldn't not reply after that last line.

Umm....7500 service is around £100, same as EU 1000.

Part no's

Just a quick query, when I had my 1K service they used 5/40 Mobil 1 not the 10/40 you quote.

My dealer [Chapelgate] quoted 75 quid for oil + filter change at 5000 miles, but not sure if its really worth it tbh, I'm gonna leave mine at just get the 10,000 service instead.

Thanks for the replies.

Don't want to have the oil change done at the dealers though, doing it myself. Just wanted the details of the filter

Question

MM can you clarify pls...

As the new service intervals have now come into play on my WRX......
Do you mean that they (the service intervals) have retrospectively changed for cars registered last year?

Cheers

Si

in answer to your question

10/40 in mine
5/40 in yours

It seems to vary form dealer to dealer. Iam no mechanic but Iam sure 5/40 should be ok (they must have guidelines to work to) a bit thinner than 10/40 but still ok, I remember a note on PE's website saying dont use 0/40, it's too thin.

Maxus, where have you been (not in the general forum recently)? MY01 and MY02 UK cars only, have had service interval changed form 7500/6 mnths to 10000/12 mnths, but a number of people are still carrying out the oil change themselves, hence the reason for mads post. If you've got one of the above and not been informed of this give ya dealer a call. You take it to Mill Lane now don't you or are you still going to Sparhatts?
