Default SWAPING ECU'S?

Hi can someone help plz

I have bought a 6S ECU 3 plug type, from a sti to put on my 1996 impreza wrx.
I took battery ground off and fitted it with no probs but when i started the car it ran a bit funny

is there anything else i need to do, will it take a few minutes to adapt to the different ecu

THANKS IN ADVANCE

Id imagine it runs funny because the map on the ECU is not suitable for your car?

As Chris says..

different cams, valves, turbo, rev limit, fuel map, ignition map, boost map etc etc..

quickest way to make you go and buy an sti engine though.. as you'll have to when the WRX one expires

I only had it on a few seconds before putting my original one back on, and now runs spot on again.

I thought it would be ok as I have-

IHI turbo
front mount intercooler
de cat 3" blitz nur spec exhaust
induction kit

I will probably buy an apexi ecu soon.

Thanks for your replys

ps, my car seems to be runing fine with the above mods, no runing issues and it hasnt been maped yet.

im planing on an apexi ecu and uprated fuel pump, what sort of BHP should i expect to see. my cars a 96 impreza wrx.

lol

what size injectors does your car have? grey 380cc or yellow 440cc..

there seems a point at which they went to a larger maf also same as on the sti.. but previously a smaller diameter..

IHI turbo - do you know which one? if you have 380cc injectors then you are limited to about 295 roughly.. if 440 then as much as the turbo will flow so early to mid 300s..
