Hi, Sorry to possibly waste time but I have got a 1990 GL 4WD Estate and it rev's at between 1900 and 2500 from cold, usually at 2000 but it picks up after 1-2mins of driving to 2500. After 10 or 15 mins it usually settles down to 600rpm or so.

Is this a common problem and can someone point me in the direction of a previous thread, things to check or a probable solution?!

PS. someone told me it may be a choke function?!

 

sounds very much like its a choke, fast idle etc.

 

Thanks, any ideas if this is something that I could easily check/sort out myself? I have good technical understanding of most types of system but little experience.
