Lightbulb Induction kit problem

Iv just bought a K&N typhoon induction kit, fitted it the other day and when i went to start the engine it wouldnt start, after a few goes it started but sounded very rough and lumpy and then just cut out. Put the origional air box back on and ran sweet, started first time, ive never had this problem with induction kits before. Do i need a re-map first? Its completely standard engine wise just a different back box.
