Default AP Clutch fitting costs

Whats a reasonable cost in Greater London (not centre) from a non-Scoob Dealer for fitting one?
I would expect it to be £250 max

Anyone know a cheap supplier - mean not ripping me off with the Max Retail price on an AP Organic? - shouldnt be much over £400?, including Spigot bearing

Wink

AP Racing 230 mm £640.00 + VAT if done here, including a pilot bearing and assuming a good flywheel. If not add skim at £60.00 + VAT fitted of course.

We have stock and can do you at short notice due to a cancellation.

If you neeed a flywheel skim(bank on it needing it IMHO) it can up the price a little. It cost me £30 to have my flywheel machined.

Thanks
I dont know if I can get the time off - will look at.
Flywheel has a few heat spots whatever that means but is fine

I have had an Exedy single plate clutch on for about 1000 miles (I didnt ask for this - I think the garage heard what they wanted to hear when I said fit an AP!) which is a bloody nightmare in the cold and judders away........ so I want it off as it simply shakes the car and especially the transmission to bits - shoddy piece of kit

I was told it would bed in - the smell is really bad................ it hasnt bedded in at all...... saying that I once had an AP Ceremetallic that was far worse

If it has heat spots it wont be a truely flat surface IMHO, hence your juddering problems.

I had no clutch issues before the AP came off - I was told to change it as the clutch was getting worn
If the clutch was fine before adding a new clutch it should still be fine

Remember the two will have worn in together, the same cant be said with your recently fitted clutch.

I run an excedy with no probs, try doin a few full bore starts and see if it beds in then.

There are Exedy's and Exedy's and just suddenly it seems that here are a whole lot of people out there with problem ones. I just wonder if there aren't some cheap copies floating around. The ones that I use and sell are sourced in Japan by APi Japan and we have no trouble, At least, not very much, considering how many we sell. { just 2 that popped up on here last time I said none }

Hot spots on a flywheel will give you a judder and it is poor workmanship to put a new clutch on a damaged flywheel. It would also void any potential warranty claim, so you haven't been treated/ advised very well by your garage.

We can do it while U wait. If it comes here, I should be able to tell you from the remains whether you got a good one or the cheapo factor type. Then you can 'discuss ' it with your original supplier.

If it is the good one and hasn't bedded properly then we may be able to just supply a good quality friction disc - AP of course and you may, may, get away cheaply.

As David says, there are a few suspect clutches/companies out there at the moment.

Always worth buying from somewhere reputable and using specific part numbers.
