Default torque setting

can someone please confirm that the torque setting for the idler wheel that goes on the water pump housing should be 78nm, fitted my old pump on my new engine and went to torque up and it seemed very tight and stripped the thread out, not the end of the world but dont wanna do to my new pump

No wonder it stripped old bob - torque setting is 39Nm for all the idlers and tensioner (14mm socket headed ones ).

looked again im my proper subaru workshop manual. same as the one that you buy on disk, and there is actually a miss print, 2 torque sttings on one page are actually the wrong way round, they are 78 and 39, confirmed this by carefully looking through other diagrams in later pages, so i did do right but the bloomin book was wrong!!!

They can often get "lost in translation" - you can always go by the Tensile marking on the head of the bolts/fastners if the manual is un-available.
