Default uk turbo compared to import turbo

Hi. I was just wondering what the differences were on the engines to make the power difference. Is it just a different ECU or do the import engines have some internal work done to them? Cheers Michael

from memory..

93~96 are all the same turbo (td05 16g) except the WRX import wagon (td04)..

97~98 the uk has td04 and the import a vf turbo.. depending on model and what they had laying around vf23, 22, 24 etc
99~00 uk is a td04, wrx is also a td04 although seen some WRX saloon with VF on but whether original who knows, sti vf28, p1 vf28 etc..

01 onwards - WRX uk abd import td04, sti have a vf34 or 35 in uk with imports having the twin scroll vf42.. sti forester has the non-twinscroll vf41 if I recall correct.

Oh yeah sorry. It'd be 1993-96. So the heads would be the same then?
