Default Modine oil cooler query.

Could someone kindly explain why an Subaru automatic does not does not require this type of oil cooler..
Subaru Impreza Turbo STi WRX RA 22B Modine Oil Cooler on eBay, also, Subaru, Car Parts, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 12-Oct-08 10:45:46 BST)
But a manual transmission car does ?
The e-bay listing is just for reference so you can see what I am asking about.

Thanks
