Water pump and tensioner rubber seals?

Water pump and tensioner rubber seals?
The water pump has a groove around its left hand edge that looks like it wants a rubber seal in it. The cambelt tensioner mount (late classic) that I have seems like it does not need the rubber seal that the earlier design used.
Anyone who can help me out here with what I need? At the moment I've used Threebond on the bottom edge of the tensioner mount and nothing on the left hand edge of the water pump...
