Default Fitting a replacement alternator on my96 wrx wagon

Is there anything I need to know when fitting a replacement alternator ro my 96 wagon.looks quite straight forward just thought I would ask.

Would a faulty alternator couse my engine check light to flash.

no i wouldn't think so, the battery light would come on if the altenator was faulty, and if the engine has a fault the check light just stays on (doesn't flash)

check the wiring /connections properly as they can corrode, have you used a volts tester to check its output?
