Default Valve stem seals - genuine needed or not?

Genuine valve stem seals are £38.07 for the 8 exhausts and £42.48 for the 8 inlets. I can get a complete set of 16 copies for about £15, which are all identical.

Presumably the Subaru ones are different in some way from exhaust to inlet. I do seem to recall that the exhaust valves are supposed to run slightly more clearance in the guides. Anyone explain why I should pay 5 times as much for the genuine Subaru? I'll do it if I need to, but don't want to pay out if the genuine ones are just a rip-off for suckers who don't know better...

Difference between the two is temp rating, the exhaust getting much hotter. We just use the EX seals, because they are cheaper, and work fine on the intake.

I can't comment on the copies, they may be fine, but I stick to the OEM, because of the hassle to replace them, if something goes wrong.

You can get discount on OEM parts !

Well I had cheapo ones at first and then when I came to take them off to look at the valve seats again, quite a few tore up on the inside. How much can you do them for Mark?
