Paint stripper
#2
I would avoid Nitromors it can loosen the lacquer but then can cause problems with nasty lumps that do not full detach from the alloy, which can be very difficult to remove. A lot depends on the wheel manufacture and the type of paint/lacquer they have applied.
For the peace of mind maybe look into price of wheel refurb locally or ask friendly bodyshop what they would use to remove lacquer/paint and how much they would charge to blow them over as the result will be better than with a can.
