Default cel fix

Hi guys,

I have a bugeye wrx sti type uk, when I got the car it already had a decatted downpipe on it...
The CEL light has come on and I have read the topics stating that you can do a fix with a 2k2 resistor - which I have bought.

My question is where is the plug that I put the resistor in?
A photo would be good if possible

Cheers
Steve

Don't have a photo but the resister is 'bridged' across two terminals of a connector located near the front of the drivers side suspension turret. I think the boost solenoid is there as well ?

It's the connector from the exhaust gas temperature (EGT) sensor. If this sensor has been removed from the replacement up-pipe the connector you need will be easy to spot, ie. it isn't connected to anything !

The resistor fix is for a decatted up-pipe not downpipe......
You've got an STi so the resistor fix is irrelevent anyway.
I'd find out what the CEL is for before jumping in.

Sorry I should have said that the decatted pipe runs from the turbo to the cat-back section (one piece)...

Its definately the sensor that is causing the problem!
Had a look last night and couldn't see any unconnected sensors

There was one plug which I assume is for the boost solenoid, then there where two sensors beside the suspension - would it be one of these that I have to disconnect and place the resistor in?

Cheers for your help

No m8 - you talking about the Map sensor, etc on the Drivers suspension turret. EGT Plug is there as well and that is where you install the 2.2K Ohm resistor for and EGT fix........

But as has already been stated, you have an STi and hence no Catted uppipe and hence no EGT for the ECU to monitor and note.

If you are 100% sure it is not an issue related with something else (get Deltadash or a Select Monitor on the car to double check there is not a knackered sensor) then lots of places sell you CEL fix.

Assuming there is not a fault the ECU is worried as the Lambda reading from the first Lambda (headers) is almost the same as the one from the second (Cat Pipe) so the ECU cannot understand this as the exhaust gases should have passed through a CAT in the Downpipe and so it throws up a light (Layman terms?)

TSL, AWD, H&S, etc - all these guys can sell you the CEL fix resistor and wiring.

Hope this helps.

Personally I'd get the car re-mapped and this will remove the CEL (if it's P0420....cat below efficiency ie. missing).

The other thing is that de-cat bugeye sti's (not wrx) may have a tendency to boost spike unless re-mapped or the restrictor orifice is adjusted.

Get the fault code to establish what sensor is faulty,
I just replaced my lambda / o2 which is in the manifold /headers just before the up-pipe.
According to andy f when he mapped my car this sensor can not be cel fixed and cost me a right few quid to replace.
