This is a common problem and unless they are very bad they are usually ok, if the cracks go more than 10/12mm down the plug hole then i would probably consider changing them,
As scoobysmiff said - Phase 2 heads are prone to have small cracks radiating out from the spark plug hole - as long as the cracks do not extend under the Valve Seats they will be ok to use.

thanks chaps,
i would like to replace them anyway, just so you know it's right or the best you can make it if you know what i mean. but after getting a price from my main dealer of £1073.00 each
i thought i would look for another second hand pair, they seam to be like chickens teeth. the heads off of my car are cracked right up through the sparkplug hole (wondered why the plugs worked lose) the second hand pair are only cracked about three may be four threads in, and are hair line as my heads you can get you finger nail in the cracks. i think it may have been over heated at some stage, as the piston ring have lost there tension as well.
many thanks
