Default STI engine id

Hi guys.Other than the red induction manifold is there any other way of identifing an sti classic block from any distwishing marks or numbers.The engine is out of a 00 P1 .Many thanks ...Hookie

No. You need to open it up and get a look at the heads and pistons. Rods and crank are standard WRX.

Picked up engine tonight all seems ok and will be opening it up tomoz...What is the colour of the injectors? these are yellow....Andy

yellows are 440s which would be STi on an earlier car.

How early?The spare engine I have just bought is out of a 00 p1 with a vf 29 turbo,engine has a bottom end knock but not realy that bothered as im rebuilding with forgded internals.Andy

Oh well that's going beyond my knowledge. Put it this way, when I needed to change the injectors on my v4 WRX, I swapped standard phase 1 greys (380s) for yellow 440s. Version 5 and 6 cars like your P1 had different style injectors so not sure whether the colours are the same.

The P1 came with Phase 2 Yellow Side Feed 440 Injectors from the factory as the engine is a STi Vers.5/6.
