MY 97 –00 map sensor (higher pressure rating) this will see you to the 1.4 mark. i had one of these installed in my94 wrx. however now i haved changed my set-up to avc-r and power pc.

its not a hard job to install. many people on the forum have done this. your tuner will most likley need to recalibrate the map sensor settings in your power FC.

the other option you have is to get a map sensor for your power FC or get a AVC-R. i prefer AVC-R as you can adjust the boost more pricisely.

wiring instructions for 97 - 00 map sensor for pre 96 cars.

https://www.scoobynet.com/general-te...ap-sensor.html

your current maf should be ok.

hope that helps.

If it's a 2.5 you will need stronger pistons IMHO, much more boost and they'll fail...

I'm sure someone will be along soon to say they have got 450/450 out of a standard one.

LOL

looking at your view my scooby i would have thought you should be able to run 1.4 bar no probs,i would go back to mapper & ask why you can't run more boost.

Mike 799 , the early pre97 maf saturates at about 1.2 bar that is why he is at his limit and people have suggested a later or different maf.

VF28 is not going to last long at that boost level.

Why are folks looking for a certain boost level. Sure it's desired power level that should be the aspiration, using as little boost as possible (especially on UK std internals). With a good set up you shouldn't need anywhere near 1.7bar to achieve 350bhp

Mine makes 340bhp on 1.35 bar peak on a VF35!

Also, 380 injectors will limit you to around 300bhp (assuming no increase in fuel pressure?) and the VF28 is usually most comfortable around that level.

Scooby350hp Where did you get your car dyno'd and who did the mapping?

My concern is either your figures are out or your car is in danger of going pop!

NS04 - youre absolutely right, his injectors wont squirt any more juice for any more than 300 bhp. BUT he could run 1.7 bar but only upto 3800 rpm! by the redline he would have to be running around 0.7/0.8 bar due to inj size.

If the vf28 can spool up quick enough to 1.7 bar by 3800 or so rpm then this does give him immense torque low down in the revs - although it wont last long as the revs climb

well wen i brought the car 2 yrs ago it hadnt been remapped so i had it rollin roaded @ scooby clinic and it was producing 290bhp and that was with out the apexi ecu and 255 fuel pump, and 2 months ago i had a 255 wlabro pump added, and apexi ecu + fc commader

mods are, ss tubular manifold, 2.5 inch exhaust wiv decat, blitz induction, walbro 255 pump, apexi ecu - wiv this set up on channel 4 boost, i hit full boost (1.7 which i can change on the setting menu on p-fc) around 2900 - 3000 rpm and the torque is really harsh then levels to around 1.6 bar all the way through to 7000 rpm, and was mapped by a well known and respected mapper close to where i live

there is no way a VF28 is running 1.6 bar to the with 380cc injectors!!! even a 20G on a 2.0 would be close to its max at 1.6 bar @ 7000 rpm..

perhaps you have a better turbo and bigger injectors than you think!!
come to think of it, 1.6 bar on a 2.0 at the redline would equate roughly to 400+bhp given the right turbo.

hmmm..

my type R is running 1.5bar on a VF28 and standard 440's made 317 bhp before i rebuilt with forged internals, everything else is standard on the car

as you have quoted me i feel the need to explain further.

Injector size aside, i doubt very much the vf28 on yours will be @ 1.5 bar at the redline. I max out 440's at 1.25 bar @ 7000 rpm

YES - you can hit 1.5bar (even 1.7 - but its at its max pressure ratio) around 3800-4000 rpm but thats a different league all together.

Vf28 can flow ~ 430 cfm. 1.5 bar @ 7000 rpm requires about 580-600 (give or take) cfm on a 2.0 not possible on a vf28.
