Default Checking fmic for leaks

Hi my car is not boosting to where it should and i was told by someone to check for leaks.I asked the bloke if i should use brake cleaner which i have and found nothing, and he told me they use smoke. Does anyone know of a good way to check for leaks?

Wont the water be sucked in if it goes of boost? Keeping on boost might be hard i would have thought standing still?
