Default v3 v4 engine differences

in a bit of a pickle, currently having a new sti bottom end built including forged pistons steel rods etc by dave at api, when he asked what version mine was i was unsure so i just said it was a 1996 wrx on a P plate,he then told me it was it a v4 so i left it at that, only today i have found out its a v3 as it has a V3 interior it just confuses me a little coz it actually looks like a v5 on the outside....anyhooo i was just wondering if i have a problem on my hands if he has built it for a v4 instead of v3?
arghhhh all these different versions
