Question Door sensor & door open indicator light (on dash)

Hi,

I've recently purchased an RB5, and was told by the previous owner of a slight issue with the sensor on the rear passenger door not aligning with the door and thus sometimes giving a false reading that the door is open when not.

Thought no more about it until today at work the alarm sounds and assumingly the sensor has moved or something, and the alarm thinks the door has been opened without the alarm being deactivated.

The previous owner did comment that the rubber seal on the door had been replaced or looked at for some reason.

So I will now get to the point... How to stop this potentially happening again, especially if parking the car for some time and the alarm just goes off randomly?

Anyone know of a way to ensure the sensor on the car always lines up with the door trim? Is there something on the door which should always ensure the sensor is de-pressed?

Not much of a technical person as you may have gathered!! Hope someone can assist?

Cheers,

CHRIS.

You could tape over it temporarily, to hold it closed.
Can't think of the top of my head if there is adjustment for them.

Just spoken to a Subaru main dealer and they think it may actually be something electrical - as they said that the unit that depreses when you close the door is only for the interior light - and nothing to do with the 'door open indicator' on the dash???

Sounds like a pointless item of manufacturer if that is all the pressable unit does??

Anyone able to shed anymore light on it??

Cheers,
CHRIS.
