Default Spool rate

Age old question regarding the Dawes/GBE MBC. I have an STI v3 with decat,HKS induction,Zerosport induction pipe,HKS dump valve. It is fitted with both Greedy boost and EGT gauges with peak memory, Knocklink and a HKS AFR that will allow adjustment of +/- 1.0 AR point.

Question being, I have a GBE Evo MBC sitting idle, can I fit it inplace of the stock boost controller to hold the wastgate closed and run stock boost without any adverse effects ?. Boost currently shows 1.0 bar with 1.1/1.2 peak depending on ambient temp.

I understand the pickup should be more agressive with the MBC but will the ecu cope ?. Knocklink shows 1st led flashing under heavy load (1st/2nd) at the moment with sensitivity set to max. I can adjust AF slightly if required.

So can I fit it and get some gains, or should it stay in the cupboard where it cant get up to any mischief ?

(have searched and read alot about them, still sitting on the fence though)

Yep, go ahead and install it.

In addition to the MBC bringing on the boost more aggressively, you will also not have as much of a reduction of boost in gear 1 and 2.

The ECU will learn how to cope with the more aggressive boost rise. If you get any increased knock activity it should be only on the first one or two times you put your foot down.
