Default root cause of problem

Hi,just wondered if anyone could tell me what the possible root cause of my problems is?

At Christmas time, the headgasket went
It is a 97 classic WRX, slightly upgraded. The engine was done by a local garage, who claim to be "Japanese car specialists".When it came back, it had no less than 6 oil leaks, and a coolant leak. The car then went to York to a Subaru specialist, who put all those problems right.........at a cost of course!!

Anyway, the other day, i notice temperature gauge fluctuating again..oh no!, I decide to go straight to specialist again, who tells me possible headgasket problem......again! Upon investigation, a small hole is found on radiator, this has now been replaced, but apparently pressure is down on 3 cylinders.............headgasket, or a seal?? we don't know what yet.

Just wondered if something is badly wrong with engine, if car is plagued with gasket problems??

Please help.................do I need new engine?

Get a Compression Test and Cylinder Leak Down test done to find out the "mechanical health" of the engine.
As to the overheating - if the engine has been badly cooked(overheated) at some time in its life, the heads or deck faces could be warped.
They shouldnt leak oil, coolant after being repaired - this is normally down to the quality/workmanship of the repair.
