Question Brake pad changing, urgent help needed please?????

Hi,
I have a 1999 UK Impreza Turbo. It needs all the pads changing, i have got the pads and started on one of the rear wheels (this is my first time changing pads).

I removed the bottom bolt on the caliper ok and swung it up out the way. I removed the old pads ok and also took off the metal guide rails. I cleaned these and the area it sits in and replaced them.

I got the new pads and fitted the one onthe outside ok, it seems to move pretty freely in the rails.

However the inside pad i can't get to fit into the rails at all. It is just too tight a fit (i have used coper grease also).

I'm sure they are the correct pads and are identical to the ones i removed.

My question is, is it because it is brand new? and could i file the edges slightly to make it fit into the rails. (The two bits that stick out at each end on the metal backing plate)?

Is this unheard of or a normal problem?

Many thanks
Matt

ive never heard of it on an impreza but have on other models. Normally removing the paint from the new pad is enough
