Wheel spacers

Wheel spacers
What are the drawbacks of running a car with these? I really want a set of Ksport brakes as for sale in the group buy BUT they aren`t guaranteed to fit all 17 inch alloys. If they didn`t fit it would mean I`d have to run spacers but I`d always been told thats not a very good idea.

If you run spacers it will widen the track of the vehicle & you will find that it has a detrimental effect on the handling, you will also find that the car has a tendency to tramline (i.e. follow the lines in the road)
You also need to be mindful of the length of your wheel studs. If you space by too much, then the wheel nuts won't be wound on far enough and this could lead to a failure of the studs/nuts, which would have obvious consequences.

i've got 3mm on mine all round , for some reason my new e-bay special front discs touched the inovit spoke
got away with 3mm though , and then had to put them on the rear as well . have noticed a bit of tramlining but will be getting it all set up again soon, tracking, camber, castor etc etc

If you go for a fast road setup you will find that it accentuates it, not improves it.

OK fair enough. I don`t want to replace the wheels I`ve got as among other reasons, I can`t afford to replace them and a new set of brakes. Dazza, are you running 3mm spacers and standard length studs?

i am bud yeah . wheels are inovit 7x17 , 48mm offset
they fit over the godspeed 335mm discs but won't fit over these 295's for some reason . . 3mm did the trick though. so in theory (i think) it's like me having 45mm offset wheels . i am going to get some revolution milleniums soon though, when they become avilable in my fitment in white. hopefully i won't need the spacers then.
