Default loosing 0.2 bar boost?

Hi all,

Ive i problem thats developed over the last week or so. Im loosing 0.2 bar of boost. Ive a simtek with 2 maps one for daily driving normally running 0.7 bar but reaches to 0.5 bar and holds there and map two is my full power map which runs 1.4 bar buts only reaching 1.2 bar then holding.

I fitted new gt spec headers a few weeks ago then got the remap sorted and everything was fine until this problem arrised.

Ive checked all the usual pipes etc for splits or holes but cant hear or feal or see anything, ive also checked the actuator arm and even the boost gauge to make it wasnt loosing the boost.

Is there something im missing to check or a better way to test for a leak?

the car still runs fine and pulls well, so not sure what it is.

All info is appreciated.

Drew

Hi,

I dont suppose you have had hotter weather where you are by any chance? that might be a reason why you have lost 0.2 bar, warmer air being pulled in.

new update.

Checked all pipes with soapy water and found no leaks at all. Ive also replaced my plastic rec valve with metal forge one so rulled out that as well. Checked my uppipe gasket and its holding fine so not that either.

Can anyone think of any other things to check?

Cheers

Would it be safe to use a smoke pellet at the induction kit to check if there are any leaks from any pipes that i havnt found?

What pressure does the gauge show at warm idle and also without engine running?
Is peak boost arriving later than when remapped?

when engine is off the gauge reads 0 which it should and idleing is at -0.8 as it should. Going to take all intercooler pipes off and then refit them to see if this sorts the problem.

Boost seems to come in at the same as usual but its hard to tell for sure as its hard to watch gauges etc while driving and its only been mapped for a few weeks.

Can there be anything other than the intercooler pipes leaking that could be causing my problem?

cheers

Dodgy boost control solenoid perhaps, or clean all relevant pipework to/from it.

Pipe to boost gauge ? Can you confirm readings with a second gauge, just in case thats the problem ( or gauge itself of course )
