Default help running problem

Hi just bought a 96 sti which has been fine up until today. When i accelerate hard on full boost about 5000 revs the car holds back for a second slight pop from exhaust carries on does again a couple of times.
has a few mods not done by me td05 20g apexi fc remap etc.
Any help greatly appreciated as im new to the classic worried it could be something serious.
thanks

Overboost leading to fuel cut or needs new coils, possibly?

you could turn your boost down. Mine wanders all the time despite an accurate boost controller. I now run at 2psi under what my safe full boost is. No probs. Prior to that i was being cut all over. Turned out to be the pipes split.
