funny lookin sensor in the air intake

Default funny lookin sensor in the air intake

can anyone tell me what the plastic sensor in the airbox intake duct(the duct that sits over the abs unit and driverside headlight)is and what it does ive fitted a blitz induction kit and removed the airbox so the sensor isnt really doing anything is it

will it cause any running issues if its left floating in the engine bay?

I still have the intake section and sensor but the pipework in the wing has been removed. and the car is perfect. Its been like it for years without issue.
