Flat spot

Just getting to grips with my 2001 wrx but I have noticed a flat spot or period of hesatation around 3-4 k revs. This is more noticable when accelerating gently. Would an ecu reset help or am I best using super unleaded. Is there a solaniod that could be sticking on the turbo?
