Default getting rid of airflow meter

Hi,
I am going for an autronics ecu and this does away with the airflow metre.

What i am wondering is how you attach the air filter then?

I have a silicone turbo intake pipe. Im sure a few of you have this ECU's with this sort of setup.

Pics would probably be a help

Thanks
Jamie

i have a simtek fited, the maf is still there, just not connected.

you can get straight sections of pipe to replace the maf section.

yeah suppose didnt think of that lol, just disconnect it, hardly a reduction of air flow through it anyway.

thanks

What benefit do you get from removing the maf anyway?
I have a HKS ecu that can be set up to be maf free but dont know if its worth while

above a certain airflow, mafs cannot read high enough and therefore fuelling etc will be incorrect.

Get an air filter and trumpet from Mark @ Lateral Performance to replace the maf sensor. All you will need is a small piece of silicone hose to connect the trumpet and inlet pipe.

i thought that maf's aren't that important, as they have a MAP sensor which is after the turbo so it can tell how much air is coming out the turbo end anyway?

am i right?

have u bought a set of 550's yet jamie?.....put it like this, my car ran at 90% IDC on the commander at 1.35 bar the other day on the 440's and thats with the FPR and Walbro too, my car at a guess is over the 300 mark....if your going for a 20g and alot more boost and power up around the 370bhp mark id be very surprised if the 440's werent completely maxed out, max on them is supposed to be 350bhp, plus best to leave a bit of headroom, have you been advised to stay with 440's by AI?

tbh might be worth leaving the 440's in as the limiter saves risking going to high

hi Burt, yeah still have the 440s and with the unichip it was doing 340 and he had to actually take fuelling off at the top end

so they will be fine with the new turbo. cant be sure until the map gets done, but he reckons it will be spot on.

Yeah i have heard about the cold start issues, but generally as you say it just needs tweeked to sort it out
