Default How to replace backbox

Hi,
I want to replace the backbox of my 2007 WRX wagon.
I have never done this before so would appreciate some advice/tips.
Could I reuse the existing exhaust hangers?
Also would I need new gaskets between the backbox and middle pipe?

Cheers

Pretty sure it's the same as on a classic. Jack up rear end, existing hangar rubbers should be fine still, your gasket will also most likely be OK as well. Basically, just undo the two bolts that hold the back box flange to the centre pipe flange, separate and unhook from the hangers and that's it. The only difficulty is if the bolts are seized. Mine had been on so long that they needed cutting off with an air hacksaw up on ramps!

As above, if you are doing it at the weekend for instance, start spraying the bolts with WD40 or similar now. This will give it a little time to work in an hopefully make them easier to remove. Good luck

and use some lube on the rubber hangers helps them slip out or you can buy a tool for the job costs a fiver.
i'd get a new gasket as well as there onlyabout £8 max as the oe ones usually pull apart on removal
