Default EGT sensor on up-pipe

ok going to replace the up pipe on MY03 wrx as it has a cat. there is a EGT sensor that goes into this cat and i wondered if it would be neccessary to fit it to the de-cat uppipe as i know you can get them with or without the hole for the sensor.

does the sensor only kick in if its too hot therefore if its bagged rather than fitted it wont read too high and in turn run fine?

Basically do i get a de-cat up-pipe that will allow fitment of the sensor or not???

Cheers in advance

dont bother it only acts as a cat on fire sensor.

fit a 2.2kohm resistor on to the wiring loom plug on off side suspension turret to fool ecu and stop cel coming on.

not worriedbout the cellight cuming on just dont want it going it to limp mode. guy that makes the pipes said it was probably best leaving it out if the was mapped or anything like that which it is

As JR says, leave it out. The connector is in front of the OSF suspension turret next to boost solenoid. Just unplug sensor, remove and pop a 2.2kohm resistor across the socket terminals. Tape up, or wedge some blue tak into the socket to hold resistor in place and jobs done, no CELS. All for about 2p..

BTW a CEL generated by this sensor does not induce limp home..
