STI8/7 ENGINE INTO WRX?

Question STI8/7 ENGINE INTO WRX?

Hi all!

Will a sti8 engine or a sti 7 or 53 plate wrx/ sti engine fit straight in my 2001 wrx? gearbox mounts? etc etc engine wiring loom? turbo?

will these run on my std ecu?

no you need the sti ecu and loom due mainly to the AVCS

gearbox and engine mounts will be fine though

ahh, would a newer spec wrx lump fit? 2.5? or just stick with 2.0,

53/54wrx engines go in?

a drive by wire engine would be a pain and the newer wrx 2.5 has avcs heads too.. 2litre would be easiest.

what part of your current engine has failed?

errr..there are a lot of WRX bugeye owners running well over STi power on the standard WRX lump with a few cheap mods

as Jolly Green mentioned......whats wrong

hmmmm, yes mine was running 290 before went, but went on rollers gutted.. see my other thread

'can anyone help my wrx'

pistons and bores knackered so new engine time....


what year did they chnge to 2.5? as want to get newest engine i can that will go in and run with no probs...

You can get a short block 2.5 engine that will go straight in and using your ancillaries including the cylinder heads

A brand new 2.5 bottom end will cost around £1500 !

Then add your re-furbed heads and you are sorted
