Default knock knock bang bang

On my MY05 STI Type UK

I had the car about 1 week and the suspension is fooked. the rear knocks and moves about when going over pot holes or pulling off or slowing down. not good.. last night i was in petrol station then basically near full lock on right turn moving a few mph the loads of sort banging and knocking made car shake. it been doing it a few times it happens in gear and also happens in neutral aswell... going in warranty job for rear suspension tuesday. what you guys think about the banging and knocking which i think is coming from the front area... its not a nice nice to be honest and a bit worried...

anyone got any ideas.

cheers
dave

Knackered shocks?? Big problem on sti's like mine, its a design fault, the original shocks are too small and lacking a part that causes them to knock (was told this by scoobyclinic over the phone)

Mines going in next week, they have come up with their own revamped version and he told me out of all the cars they've fitted them on, one one person came back, and it was an accidental fvck up rather than the part going.

Of course, it could be struts, top mounts etc, but with it being an Sti and the knocking being very common, then id wager its that. I wouldn't let them put another standard part on tbh, it'll mopst likely only happen again, as per the design fault.

i pulled into pertol station at low speeds via a little gap. was on riht hand lock and clonging and banging and vibration in whole car.. not a nice sound and very worrieing.

I am used to rear knocking its *** off which is being sorted tuesday lol
the other nice when it happens is pretty bad but as i sed only at very low speeds and basically right hand lock

Either in gear or in neutral it dont matter.. as long as its on right hand full lock on low speeds its sounds broken....

any more ideas people

I have the same car as you, and I also get the noise described by you, but I only get it sometimes and only right turning as you said too. I my case doing it slowly even at full lock doesn't do it, but if I go over a bump or smth, then I get the noise/vibration/knocking and I need to drive it with a bit of speed. Been 2 times at dealer, they coudn't figure it out...
My best bet is that they are the front shocks, so I'm waiting till it will get worse and easy to reproduce than goes to warranty work. I had the rear shocks just replaced 1 month ago, due to knocking, probably for the next set I get smth better then the oem.

Like advised, I wouldn't go with the standard shockes/parts, if you do a search or ring a specialist and say you've got an sti, and the dreaded "knocking" they'll simply say..."shocks gone??"

Get them uprated and it should see the problem sorted, only way to tell with the front is for them to see, but seriosuly think twice if all their going to do is swap them like for like, search on here how many ppl have had them renewed with standard shocks only for it to happen again.

knocks really bad. should i try it on furthest green light.

if i leave it on auto setting it 100 % only on slow right corners knock bangs in both 1st and neutral...

when it knocks tho it. i love at my girlfriend and she look at me in worrie..

so dccd can knock and bang loads on auto on tight right corners at slow speed

this is my second scooby and always worring about. 2005 sti i should not need to worrie as much as i do... only 22 and getting grey hair lol

any more information

Best bet mate is to leave it til you take it in, hopefully it'll be nothing, I know what you mean, I haven't had mine long, and the rear shocks are on the way out, never had any issues with the WRX.

I found the problem when i read is normal

its the dccd and tight full locks in auto... apparantly diff try and spin the wheels. very strange and very normal....

i read the only way round it is to ingage handbrake light or flick the dccd roller to full rear bias and noise stops

heard it 100% normal and and that relaxed my mind quite a bit

thank god

cheers
