hi all, need to get to the bottom of this asap. air bag warning light keeps coming on. i have narrowed problem down and it only does it when i turn the steering wheel one and a half turns to the right. if i turn off ignition light goes off when restarted. please can someone help.

 

sounds like its pulling on a wire and coursing a loose connection. you have an airbag in the steering wheel i take it

 

yes, its a 98 sti with momo standard wheel with airbag

 

i would take the bottom section of the dash off so you can access the steering colomn then turn the wheel and see if any of the cable pull as your turning. you should be able to follow the cables down the steering colomn and are normally cable tied up.

turn the wheel untill the light comes on. then see which cables are very tight and see if you can give it some slack.

 

hi, i have tried every wire. nothing even seems to move when i turn the wheel lock to lock. also tried moving all the wires manually. the steering column seems to be enclosed so i dont think this can snag anything

 

anyone, any ideas?
