Default Boost Solenoid Question

Do I need a 3 port boost solenoid for a remap on a MY06 STi with standard turbo?, or is it better to have one with a larger turbo only?

Thanks

nope, not heard of one being fitted for just a remap

decat, cold air induction kit and a remap will be add a nice, and not small, amount of punch to the car

Ah Jase your back!!!

Came to your senses and bought another STi, well done.

3 port BCS is not essential but it will allow the ECU to more adequately control boost especially at higher rpm when boost tends to tail off.

Your last car was Bob R'd IIRC so no doubt there would have been a 3 port BCS on there.

I personally recommend that you go the whole hog and get an AVCR, it's defintely worth the extra £250.

Std BCS is fine for remap on the std turbo on an 06 STi. You will not be able to use the benefits of the 3 port with the std injectors/ fuel pressure regulator IMO.

If you get bigger injectors such as 650's then a 3 port will allow more boost at the top end of the revs in my experience and was worth the extra money for one.

The 3 port made no difference to spool up on mine on a fairly heavily modified and mapped 06 STi despite what some people say.

However, an AVCR is a much better piece of kit at controlling boost than the factory 2 port or aftermarket 3 port but it does disable the limp home boost mode.
