Default two quick questions

1. what member ship will i need to get search ability on this site?

2. how do i read ecu fault codes? other sites say something about connecting a jumper pin to something on ecu? is this correct?

cant answer no1, but no2 depends on your car, i think you might still be able to do the connectinos and read the cel light, have a look under you steering column, you should, fingers crossed, find two green plugs and 2 black plugs. Connect the 2 green plugs and turn the ignition on, you ecu light will then flash for the readings.
There are many many more detailed explanations on here, have a look through the first 3 pages of posts, there are loads.
