Default would 17's affect driving??

hi all, WOuld 17"s affect the driving ?? harder steering? pulls to one side??
i got 18"s on my mazda before and the driving became horrendous.... just dont wanna take the risk of the nice smooth scooby drive

It all depends on the profile of tyre. 225x35x18 on my mates Impreza was shocking so when he needed tyres he got 225x40x18 and the difference was immense.
If you lower the profile, you will loose some of the smoothness and feel every bump on the road.
