Default CV Joint

Could somebody please tell me how you know when your CV joint is Knackered. Is it something you can test? Car is a 1996 Sti v3 ra.

Old test but stilll valid I think:

Find smooth empty carpark.
Drive the car in first slowly on very near full lock (about 3 to 5 mph)

If the CV is done for you will hear a 'click-click-click' as the wheels rotate, in the same speed (hence doing this slowly).

If no noise turn the lock to the opposite and listen again.

Always worked for me.

i get a sort of clunking is that the next stage from a click then
