Question 100-CELL HIGH FLOW CAT ON 93 WRX ???

I'm thinking of getting a mappable ECU (either ESL, Apexi PFC or Simtek)...

I have modest mods at the mo: Green panel filter and 3" system (inc. de-cat centre). To make the mapping session a more cost effective exercise, I was gonna upgrade my std downpipe to an open-mouthed 3" bore freer-flowing item. However, I don't fancy on keep changing the d/p for MOTs, so my question is this... In addition to the mentioned mods above, would a 100-cell catted d/p (and new Lambda sensor - I need one!) get my JDM 93 WRX through the MOT okay. Or is it likely to be a bit borderline, emissions-wise?

Thanks, John.

Wink

My 99 wrx passes the mot with just a 100 cell sports cat. It was very close to the limit though. Had to have a couple of new sensors fitted. Dont know if that helps. But have heard a 93 car can run a full decat and still pass. But there is always a big debate about that one.

Thumbs up

Cheers guys - a big help, thanks.

In that case, I think what I might do is get a 3" full de-cat first, and see what the emissions are like with that... If no good , flog it on, then get a 100-cell jobbie instead . Just means I'll have to pay for another remap tweak for the 100-cell item...

Don't think so - if memory serves, car had to have been registered and first driven before 31st August 1992, to get round that one . Mine was registered at the end of October 1993. Damn!
